Swaps and then some & OPAM

This year I joined into 2 swaps, My House My Home Swap with organised by Karen from Mrs. Martins Quilt Shop and the 12" Mini Swap organised by our wonderful swap mamma Cheryll.

First the My House My Home Swap, I have Karen (no blog) from Victoria, we get to swap with each other 4 times this year and a Christmas Ornament, just because.  This swap was for our sewing room/nook

This is the lovely parcel I received from Karen, wonderful project folder with little hexie flowers on it, utensils bag, lovely little tin, beautiful Cottage Garden thread, Gail Pan card and a little block of chocolate, with a self printed Red Brolly wrapper on it.  Love it to bits Karen, thanks so much.

I sent Karen a wall hanging from Natalie Bird, Stitching Angel and 2 thread catchers.  Karen likes  read that as loves French General fabric, so I found some to make her project with, now guess who also likes it....thanks for that Karen.  Trying now to think of what next to make for her.....any hints Karen?????

This is my lovely 12" mini I received from Ondrea, sew very cute, and now residing in my foyer.  Unfortunately mine is running late.....Sorry Cheryll......Doctors orders.  I had a scare just under 2 weeks ago with the possibility of Carpel Tunnel, Doctor told me no sewing until I had a scan, did that on Thursday, now waiting for results, hoping that they will be ok, hand is feeling alot better.  My swap will be expressed posted tomorrow to my recipient.

OPAM for March is

1.  Ipad bag
2.  Rosalie Quinlan Quilt Giving Bag
3.  Natalie Bird True Friends Tote
4.  Cinderberry Stitches Bunting House project folder
5.  Natalie Bird Sewing Angel Wall Quilt
6 & 7 Thread Bags

Well that's enough from me

3 finishes = happy girl

I was lucky to have 3 finishes this week, makes for a happy camper, also doing some secret squirrel stuff can't show you.

First finish is another from my weekend away in Melbourne last year and the mate to my pin cushion called Bunting House by Cinderberry Stitches the sewing pocket Room for Friends.  It is so cute.

My next finish is The Birdhouse True Friends Tote, for Natalies book Red Home.  BFF Rhonda and I stitched the panels and swapped.  Rhonda has had hers made for months, I'm just a bit slower......read that as slack.  I have just been introduced to French General fabric, and I love it .....this is made with that.  I also decided to use lace instead of ric rac which looks a bit different.

My next finish is Rosalie Quinlan's Quilt Giving Bag.   Rhonda and I are heading over to the Barossa in May to do a 2 day workshop at Maggie Beer's Farm with Rosalie Quinlan and Bronwyn Hayes, so we have both made her bag to take with us.

Totally out of my comfort zone with this fabric, I purchased 2 charm packs called Family Tree and some yardage to finish it but didnt realise how much orange was in it.  Mind you I love the finish but not an orange fan.

FNSI, FNWF, SECRET STUFF & MORE STUFFF

Apologies for not blogging last week for FNSI, spent most of it in bed with some sort of virus, not nice, and dealing with a stressed out #1 son whose girlfriend is at the moment in another state, being rushed to hospital and having her appendix removed.  She is home with her parents recuperating but they are still apart, get well soon Jasmin :)

This is what I achieved last weekend being a long one.

FNSI.  I managed to get some more of my Merry Bunting by Rosalie Quinlan done, I work on this when I've got nothing to do, so its 75% finished, then onto the Christmas Bunting.  Think I will use these in my office for Christmas this year.

I blogged in my last post of my adventures with Michelle Ridgway's Miss Mistlemouse's quilt A Christmas Tail, well I started to assemble my quilt on Saturday and got three blocks in and discovered I'd read the instructions wrong, and cut the final two too small.  So at some stage I have to retrace these two blocks and re stitch them to finish the quilt.  I will be using the two wrong size ones to make into little quilts.  Hopefully I will get them done this weekend. I love the way its looking :)

My Gail Pan Christmas quilt I showed you the last two posts was also put together and I'm very disappointed in what it looks like.  No. 1 said to me, Mum you know you shouldn't pick fabric on your own!  Hes not far wrong, I thought I did a great job in picking the candy cane fabric, but who would have thought I picked exactly the same colour as the background fabric on the stitcherys, it wasn't until it was put together that I noticed it and its just flat, no depth in it at all, so back to the LPS and pick up some more, this time I think I got it right, I picked some more of the green stripe pictured above, some red stripe the same and in stead of the green HO HO HO fabric I got some red.  Hopefully it will go together this weekend, but first I have to unpick what ive done.  Being unable to pick tones and colours is a pain in the neck lol.

During the week Flyboy's life was knocked for a six when one of his mates was killed in a car accident.  He has experienced death with his Grandparents, and an Aunt taken to early with cancer, and of course great aunts and uncles, but this is the first time he has had to deal with someone his own age, who is also a Flyboy.  Mate ship is a big thing in the Defence Force and he will be afforded a Military Funeral, I send my condolences to his family and to the family of the Unit, I hope he rests in peace and I hope the boys and girls find peace in the memories they have of this lovely man.

I have also a finish which I forgot to show you for this year, Rosalie Quinlan needle book, was fun to make and I think cute.  Made in Tilda fabric and cosmo threads.

Well off to the Post Office to send my secret valentines Parcel, which is what I finished last night in FNWF nearly forgot to blog about that lol....thanks for hosting again Cheryll :)  Hope you all had as much fun as I did.

Well that's enough from me

Happy Stitching
